FIBRAVA BUYING GUIDE
Indoor or outdoor drop cable?
Compare the two-wire indoor and three-wire outdoor constructions, then confirm the route and installation requirements.
Start with the cable route
Separate the indoor and outdoor parts of the route before choosing fiber count and strength members. Jacket color alone does not establish outdoor suitability: Fibrava offers black and white options, and suitability must be checked against the selected model and installation conditions.
Compare the basic constructions
| Parameter | Indoor drop cable | Outdoor drop cable |
|---|---|---|
| Fiber count | 1 / 2 / 4 cores | 1 / 2 / 4 cores |
| Steel members | 2 wires | 3 wires |
| Steel diameters | 0.4 + 0.4 mm | 0.4 + 0.4 + 0.8 / 1.0 mm |
| Materials | G657A / LSZH | G657A / LSZH |
A messenger does not define every installation limit
The three-wire outdoor construction includes a main steel messenger. The 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm values are messenger diameters, not optical fiber diameters. Span, tensile limits, bend radius, temperature and environmental suitability cannot be inferred from the wire count alone; confirm them against model-specific information and project requirements.
Describe the installation in your inquiry
- Is the route indoors, outdoors, or a combination of both?
- Does the project specify one, two or four fibers?
- Is a self-supporting or split-type construction required?
- Are there specified performance values, jacket requirements or test documents?
