Start with three purchasing decisions
- Cable route: identify indoor, outdoor or mixed sections, then confirm whether a messenger or split-type construction is required. Jacket color alone does not establish outdoor suitability.
- Fiber count: select 1, 2 or 4 fibers against the termination, connection and fiber allocation plan. More cores do not mean a higher transmission speed for each fiber.
- Strength members: the standard indoor family uses two 0.4 mm steel wires. The standard outdoor family adds a 0.8 mm or 1.0 mm messenger; specify the selected size in your inquiry.
